The trip totally wore me out. 750 miles within two days. Driving down 158 in the dark and pouring rain was more nerve racking than driving through D.C. Trucks would come by in the other direction at like 100mph, and the whole car would jolt to the side of the road. We didn't get to the hotel til around 10pm Monday night, because the funeral home was about an hour away and we stayed there waiting for everyone to get there. Also we ate at the Black Pellican and it was awesome. My aunt and I helped my grandma get cleaned up, 'cause she can't move much on her own. Then I called my brothers, my mom, and my friend... found out I wasn't missing any school 'cause Monday and Tuesday were snow days. Went to the funeral on Tuesday... I don't know what else to say. I love my family a whole lot.

My dad and I left around 1 and got home around 5. If we hadn't made any stops it would've been 4:30. That's supposed to be a 5 hour trip. Traffic was really fast. Even on the bridges with warnings up saying to go slower, because the wind was really bad. I'm glad the driving part of the trip turned out safe and all right. I was so tired when I got home. I went to sleep soon after I got home, and slept through the next morning. Even then I looked really tired. I slept more during the day... I'm still pretty worn out. Hehe, wah wah wah...! It's good to get rest.

Today I went to school around 10. It's my friend's birthday. Tomorrow night she's havin' a birthday dinner, I'm excited. It's in the middle of my work shift but I got it covered. Had lacrosse practice, 1st full one ('cause of the snow and all). Then I went and watched rugby with a group of friends. Took my brother along. Got home around 11. Goin' to bed now, got a busy weekend/week ahead.

"let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."

At my dad's right now... we're gonna get an early start tomorrow. Six to ten inches of snow??? Yeah, we're gonna try and avoid that as much as we can. I'll be driving. I think we're going on a route closer to shore, maybe avoiding some heavy snow. It'll be heavy rain but at least it's not snow. There's coastal flood warnings in NC where we'll be. Ahhh... a little nervous.

I've been snowboardin a few times recently... it was exciting. We had a thunderstorm the other day, which was so weird because it's February. I hope I get to get up to wintergreen a few more times before it's too warm.

Lacrosse is starting, WOOWOO!!!!!

So Chicago was awesome... I got a little story to tell about it.
We stayed in the Palmer House Hilton, over a 1000 rooms and pretty much all of it was being used for this Model United Nations conference. The University of Chicago hosted it, so they provided the moderators, chairs, deus', etc. Even a department of security to keep us kids in line...
Curfew was 12:30, all students had to be in their rooms by then. Me and five other girls from my school shared a suite, so we had 1 room connected. So, at like 1am, all the sudden this guy and this girl bust into our room and say we're braking curfew by walking inbetween our rooms(3 of us are sleeping, 3 of us are just chilling in the living room). We explained to him how our room was bought, that it was bought as a suite but he was like "get your badges and your shoes, you're coming downstairs." This girl Elizabeth asks if she can put on some more clothes, 'cause we're all barely covered in our pajamas. He was like no, we don't have time hurry up. So we had to grab some coats and go. That's what pissed everyone off the most I guess. It was hilareous in a way though because this guy had this earpiece and this mic he talked into in his wrist, and he goes "Falcon to mother, should we take them down?" Like he's some sort of FBI agent when really he's a big headed college student. He also demanded to know how many people were in the room, and he took a good look around at all the underware on the floor. I'm sure he enjoyed that. So then we get taken to this holding office, and Eliza (1 of the girls) is just like "OK did ANYONE do anything wrong, just tell me I need to know!!" We were all kind of freaked out at the time... Obviously none of us did anything. This woman ("mother") came in and told us there was a misunderstanding about our suite... ok, that's nice... but then get this, she's tells us there were a lot of complaints about noise, especially on our floor and accuses us of running around and slamming doors. Whoa there. 3 of us were in BED. The rest weren't even moving about. So we go back to our rooms and we call our advisor and tell him the whole story, and he goes and talks to this "mother" (we call her "motherbird" now). I guess basically there were a whole lot of problems with students breaking stuff, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and going in between rooms (like when a guy's room is next to a different school's girls' room). Most of the parents of the girls called the head of security and demanded a written appology. I don't know if anything's happened with that, but that's basically the whole story. The second most pissifying thing about it was they didn't admit they were wrong to us, when we were freaked out in that holding office. It was still fun times though.

In Chicago we went to the Cub's field, Sears Tower, and the Shedd Aquarium (which was totally cool). Being on top of the Sears Tower at night is a totally awesome experience.

The conferences were boring, and long. About 8 hours all together in one day. By the 3rd one no one was taking anything seriously, and on the last one everyone was just messing around, getting up and singing at the mic, etc.

We rode a double decker train to DC and waited at union station for about 6 hours. Me and some girls watched The Wedding Date... I didn't quite like it, not my kind of movie. Our train was about a half an hour late, but we got back in town around 10 on Monday night. Chicago was a fun and interesting experience to say the least...

We have 2 random dogs that wander in our neighborhood, but they belong to the neighbors and all.

I went shopping today. I got some clothes, and I got a snowboard and bindings. I still have to get boots. I'm pretty excited about snowboarding.

What can we do in the face of death...

we must not be fearful,

for the Lord has a set purpose in all our lives,

and He is present, even in situations where people we know, people we've been close to are dying.

We don't understand why people who are so young have to die, but...

I know it's not because of that "stupid pointless war." I know it's not because "God doesn't exist," or God doesn't care. That is the most important thing to understand, in a situation we cannot understand.

A lot of people who don't understand take it out on God, or just take it out and say there is no God.

But that tells me nothing. Right now everybody is leaning on everybody, and we make eachother strong. I feel that God is present.

The reality of his presence tells me everything. That is something that some people have never experienced. But I not only believe that God is real, I understand that God is real. It's not just some spiritual-high feeling I get when I go to church most every Sunday. It's certainly not because I go to a Christian school every day. I can't speak for the rest of my school, let them speak for themselves like I am now. I understand that God is real because right now I see people who are so shaken but yet have this incomprehensible peace overcoming them. No, I'm not talking about numbness of emotions. This calm comes from God. Those who have this peace comfort those who are so consumed by sorrow. Everybody is helping everybody. Everyone is leaning on somebody right now.

In joy and in sorrow, God is present. Right now many of us are overcome with sorrow...

As we remember Brad Arms, as we remember Liza Jones,

the most we can do is pray for God's presence to be felt by those affected the deepest,

and we can be thankful that God is present in our lives, & we can be thankful for how blessed we are.

Their families are in my prayers constantly.

Thank God for our Soldiers. Pray for our soldiers. Take pride in those that have layed down their lives for us.

Find comfort in the fact that, even though they die, they die fighting for something they believe in. I respect the sense of duty our soldiers have.

I pray for my friends that are now in the Army, that will be going to Afghanastan, Iraq... I am proud of them.

I know that right now, in these worried times, I need to remember to trust and hope in the Lord. We all do.

Isaiah 40:31
those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
